Our History
Having been in the motor trade since leaving school and also attending North Devon college, Geoff was working locally at a garage in Combe Martin. When the opportunity came up to purchase a rundown fuel station in Berrynarbor, with his locally born wife Penny and so it began. In 1978 they started by changing the name from On A Hill Service Station to On A Hill Garage, to fully reflect their intentions to cater for all aspects of the motor trade. Initially working outside and then building a new workshop, with MOT facilities. Having outgrown the premises in Berrynarbor, in 1999 the decision was made to move the business to Lynton Cross. This was only about 4 miles away from Berrynarbor, but still very much On A Hill the logical name of On A Hill Garage continued.
The business was very much a family affair with son Lloyd, following Geoff into the motor trade. Lloyd had successfully completed his apprenticeship at North Devon College, plus nationally with Bosch focusing on electronics and engine management systems. He is joined by his Wife Paula, who works alongside Penny serving in the office and reception. Lloyd and Geoff jointly oversee the day to day running of the workshop, with Fully Skilled technician Scott Brearey and Semi-skilled technician Mark Ten-Bokkel (who is Lloyds Brother in Law).
Geoff and Lloyd welcome enquiries for all aspects of car repairs, a wide range of specialist diagnostic equipment is available. Most recently they have added Air Conditioning equipment to there workshop, underlining their intentions to keep adding workshop equipment
